Loading Projects

Load a saved project to restore your entire production setup instantly.

Restoring your last session

If the app closes while you have a session in progress — a crash, a force-quit, or iPadOS reclaiming memory — pMix.studio offers to pick up where you left off. On the next launch, a restore prompt appears with your last session; accept it to bring back your sources, scenes, and mixer state, or dismiss it to start fresh. Nothing is restored without your say-so.

If the app didn’t shut down cleanly, the offer comes back on the next launch too — dismissing it once during a panic doesn’t lose the session. If you’d rather not be asked, there’s a toggle to suppress the prompt, and the same toggle brings it back.

How to load

  1. Open SettingsProject
  2. Browse your saved projects — each shows a cover thumbnail of what the production looked like, so you can find one by eye rather than by name
  3. Select the project to load
  4. Tap Load
  5. Your production state is restored

What happens on load

When you load a project:

  • All source slots are configured with their saved sources, in the grid order you left them in
  • Scenes are recreated with their layer assignments
  • Audio levels, mute states, and routing are restored — including for a slot whose source wasn’t reachable at load time, so its levels come back when the source does
  • Transition settings are applied, including which transition you had selected
  • Streaming configuration (platform, key, bitrate) is restored
  • Overlay content and positions are set up

Network sources

Sources that depend on network connectivity (NDI, iPhone cameras) will attempt to reconnect:

  • NDI sources — pMix.studio rediscovers them on the network. If the same NDI source is available, it reconnects automatically
  • iPhone cameras — The pMix Camera app needs to be running on the iPhone. The iPad will attempt to reconnect

If a network source isn’t available when the project loads, its slot shows an error state until the source comes online.

Transitioning between projects

Loading a new project replaces the current state entirely. If you want to preserve your current setup:

  1. Save the current state as a project first
  2. Then load the new project

Tips

  • Pre-show routine — Load your project 15–30 minutes before showtime to allow network sources time to reconnect
  • Verify after loading — Check that all sources are connected, audio levels are correct, and overlays look right
  • Stream keys — Stream keys are saved with the project. If your platform uses rotating keys (e.g., Facebook), update the key after loading
