Browsing Recordings
Local Recording settings has a Browse Recordings… screen listing what’s actually on the iPad, with a frame from each take so you can tell them apart without opening them.
Each row shows the recording’s date, duration and size.
Clearing out false starts
Every show produces takes nobody wants: the ten seconds before you realised the camera was on the wrong input, the restart after a bad connection.
Recordings under two minutes are marked probable false start. That’s a hint, not a verdict — a short recording you meant to keep is still yours.
Two ways to clear them:
- Swipe a row to share or delete that one recording.
- Tidy Up Short Takes… opens a multi-select limited to probable false starts. Nothing is pre-selected, and a full-length recording can never appear in that list.
Deletions stick. A recovered take you delete stays deleted rather than coming back on the next launch.
Recording destination
Recording Destination in Local Recording settings points recordings at somewhere other than the iPad’s own storage — an external drive or an SD card over USB-C.
The browser follows wherever you’ve pointed it. Takes that recovered onto the iPad itself still get their own clearly named section, so a recovered recording is never somewhere you can’t reach it.
Copying a recording off
You can copy the latest recording straight to external storage from the recording controls — useful for handing a take to an editor at the end of a show without going through Files.
Recovered recordings
If a show ends badly — the app is killed, the iPad restarts — pMix recovers what it can on the next launch and tells you what it found. Recovered takes appear in the browser alongside everything else, named so you can tell them apart.
Where a recovery only partly succeeded, the original raw file is kept and Recovery Sessions offers Export Raw File and Recover Again, because that raw file may hold footage the recovered version doesn’t.
