Streaming to Facebook Live

Facebook Live lets you stream to your profile, pages, or groups. pMix.studio includes a built-in Facebook Live preset.

Getting your stream key

  1. Go to Facebook Live Producer
  2. Select where to post (your profile, a page, or a group)
  3. Under Stream Setup, select Use Stream Key
  4. Copy the Stream Key (the server URL is pre-configured in pMix.studio)

Facebook stream keys are typically single-use — you’ll get a new one each time you create a live video.

Configuring pMix.studio

  1. Open the output settings and tap Live Streaming
  2. Under Add Destination, tap Facebook Live — the ingest URL is filled in for you
  3. Paste your stream key (the Get your Facebook Live stream key link in the editor jumps straight to Live Producer)
  4. Review the recommended settings:
Setting Recommended value
Resolution 1920x1080 (or 1280x720)
Frame rate 30 fps
Video codec H.264
Bitrate 3000–6000 kbps
Keyframe interval 2 seconds
Audio AAC, 128 kbps

Going live

  1. Tap Start in pMix.studio’s output controls
  2. In Facebook Live Producer, you’ll see a preview once the connection is established
  3. Click Go Live in Facebook to make the stream visible to your audience
  4. When finished, tap Stop in pMix.studio, then end the broadcast in Facebook

Tips

  • Facebook requires you to click “Go Live” in their interface after pMix.studio starts sending — the stream won’t be visible until you do
  • 720p is often sufficient for Facebook — most viewers watch on mobile
  • Stream keys expire — Get a fresh key each time you go live
  • Page vs. Profile — Make sure you’re streaming to the correct destination in Facebook Live Producer
